The development of industrial production in Asia and the emergence of new centers of sourcing in the hinterlands of China induce new needs in terms of transportation between China and Europe.
This offer is articulated between two axes. The first one uses the Northern route via the Transsiberian railway to which GEFCO has a privileged access thanks to its majority shareholder Russian Railways (RZD), and the other one in the South, going through Kazakhstan to reach the European market. GEFCO, which has a solid expertise in rail transportation of finished vehicles, containers and outsized goods, offers both rail transportation without transshipment, combined rail-route transportation, isolated wagons or full trains transportation associated to added-value operations, such as customs and fiscal optimization.
Rail transportation offers great assets; two to three times faster than sea transportation, it is definitely suited for sensitive merchandise, heavy added-value equipment of high volume shipments. It is a secured and sustainable way of transportation, faster than sea freight and offers costs stability, compared to other modes of transportation.
